Opto 22 groov EPIC and SNAP PAC Driver The Opto 22 groov EPIC and SNAP PAC Driver is a co-developed module from Cirrus Link and Opto 22, letting Ignition communicate directly with Opto 22 controllers, no middleware required. It supports all groov EPIC and SNAP PAC controllers, along with SoftPAC software-based controllers running PAC firmware R9.2c or higher, giving Ignition native access to tags straight from the field. The driver scans variables and I/O points designated as "Public" in PAC Control and exposes them as tags through Ignition's OPC UA server, browsable through the Quick Client or OPC Browser panels in the Designer. It offers two scanning modes: scanning all tags, which is simple to set up but scans everything and doesn't support table data, or scanning specific tags, which requires setup in PAC Control but delivers better performance and enables reading and writing table data for the tags that actually matter. Because Opto 22's groov EPIC controllers ship preloaded with Ignition Edge and Cirrus Link's MQTT Transmission module, the pairing goes well beyond a standard device driver. Combined with Sparkplug B support, Opto 22 devices can publish contextualized, state-aware data straight from the edge, making them a natural fit for Unified Namespace architectures and edge-to-cloud IIoT deployments.
