Warranty

One year on hardware from the date it ships, or the manufacturer's term where that is longer. Never shorter.

What you get

Hardware
12 months from despatch against defects in materials and workmanship.
Where the manufacturer gives more
You get theirs. Several of the lines we carry warrant two, three or five years, and we honour the longer term rather than the shorter one.
Software and licences
Whatever the publisher's own terms say. We pass their support through and help you reach it; we cannot warrant somebody else's code.
Repaired or replaced parts
The remainder of the original term, or 90 days, whichever is longer.

The term runs from despatch, not from installation or commissioning. A panel that sits in a crate for four months is four months into its warranty when it is energised, and that is worth knowing while you are planning a build.

What it does not cover

  • Damage from installation outside the manufacturer's stated ratings - supply voltage, ambient temperature, ingress, vibration. The specification on the product page is the specification.
  • Water, lightning, surge, rodents and anything else the environment did to it.
  • Wear items. Fans, filters, batteries and contactor tips have a service life rather than a defect.
  • Anything opened, modified or repaired by somebody else. This is usually the manufacturer's rule rather than ours, and it is not one we can waive on their behalf.
  • Configuration. A device that works and is set up wrong is not a faulty device, though we will still help you set it up.

Making a claim

Send us the order number, the serial number and what it is doing. A photograph of the nameplate saves a round trip, and a description of the symptom is worth more than a diagnosis - tell us what you see and let us work out what it means.

We test before we return anything to a manufacturer, and we do it quickly, because a large share of warranty claims across this industry turn out to be an application problem that ten minutes on the phone solves. If it is a fault, you get an RMA number and a prepaid label.

How long it takes

In stock and clearly faulty: a replacement ships the day we confirm it, and you do not wait for the old one to come back. Ask for an advance replacement if the line is down.

Where the manufacturer has to assess it, their timescale becomes ours - typically two to six weeks, and we will tell you which when we log it rather than after you chase. We chase them weekly and pass on what we actually hear, including when the answer is that they have not looked at it yet.

The limit

We will repair it, replace it, or refund it. That choice is ours and it is the extent of what we owe.

What we do not cover is what the failure cost you downstream - lost production, spoiled batches, contract penalties, the engineer's day. Not because it is not real, but because it is unbounded and unknowable from here, and pricing a $200 module as though it carried a plant's output would put it out of reach of everybody who needs one.

Insure the process. Warrant the part. They are different instruments and this is the second one.
