Ignition 8.3.8 is a maintenance release focused on stability, reliability, and cleaner day-to-day operation across the platform. It brings a batch of fixes and small improvements spanning SFC logic, historical data queries, Transaction Groups, Gateway backups, and remote network monitoring, making it a solid update for teams already running Ignition 8.3.x. On the automation side, this release resolves an issue where Sequential Function Charts (SFCs) threw a NullPointerException in Gateway logs when canceled right after an Enclosing step, and fixes a bug where the tag() function in an SFC transition expression failed to apply the default tag provider to relative tag paths. Parallel block cancel conditions now support the full Ignition expression language and editor helpers, matching the same behavior already available for transition conditions. Data handling gets several targeted fixes as well. Transaction Groups now log clear Gateway messages when a Store and Forward memory buffer overflow occurs, instead of failing silently, and a bug that caused Transaction Group records to prune earlier than intended, when Gateway and database server time zones differed, has been corrected. Historical tag queries through a remote History Provider no longer return results in the wrong (Wide) format, which had been producing duplicate rows in datasets, and storing Dataset tags to the historian now surfaces a clear error message if it fails. For teams managing multiple sites, the "View Details" drawers for remote 8.3 Gateways and Network Connections now auto-refresh live connection data every 2 seconds while open, matching the behavior already seen in 8.1.x. A new partitionSeedQueryLimit property gives more control over how many partitions a seed query searches. This release also adds the ability to restore a Gateway backup during a new Ignition installation, and it updates the bundled Jython version from 2.7.3 to 2.7.4. Key Fixes and Improvements in 8.3.8 Fixed SFC NullPointerException on cancel after an Enclosing step Fixed tag() function default provider handling in SFC transition expressions SFC parallel block cancel conditions now support full expression language and editor helpers Clear Gateway log messages for Transaction Group Store and Forward buffer overflows Fixed premature pruning of Transaction Group records due to time zone mismatches Fixed remote History Provider queries returning Wide format instead of Tall format Clearer error messages when storing Dataset tags to the historian fails Live-refreshing connection data (every 2 seconds) in remote Gateway and Network Connection drawers New partitionSeedQueryLimit property for seed query partition control Ability to restore a Gateway backup during a new installation Updated Jython from 2.7.3 to 2.7.4 Fixed duplicate "Pending" EAM agent entries after upgrading from 8.1 to 8.3
