The OPC COM Module lets Ignition connect to legacy OPC servers that only support the older OPC DA (Data Access) and OPC HDA (Historical Data Access) standards, rather than the newer OPC UA standard. It exists for cases where a plant-floor device only has a driver available for one of those legacy OPC servers. Two tiers: OPC COM DA — supports OPC DA 2 and 3, Windows-only. Connects to local or remote OPC servers, works on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems, and has been tested for interoperability with third-party OPC DA servers. OPC COM DA+HDA — includes everything in the DA tier, plus the ability to query historical data from OPC HDA 1.2-compatible historians. Requirements: Ignition itself, a dual-core processor, 4GB RAM, and 10GB of free disk space (varies by usage). Supported OS: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025, or Windows 10/11. This module, unlike most Ignition modules, is Windows-only, since it relies on OPC's COM/DCOM-based legacy architecture rather than OPC UA's platform-independent one.
